“Mountain Dreams”, the fabric collection carrying the traditional highland beauty, appealed to audiences at London & Paris Fashion Week.
At the start of 2024, Vietnam left its mark on the international runway when Empower Women Asia, in collaboration with the fashion brand La Pham, strode on the runway at London & Paris Fashion Week.
On February 17, 2024, La Pham and EWA attended London Fashion Week. Soon afterwards, on March 3, 2024, La Pham continued its journey with Paris Fashion Week where designer Ngoc Anh introduced the collection named “Mountain Dreams”.
The collection was inspired by the deep connections between La Pham and Vietnam’s grand mountains. “It goes beyond a piece of fabric embroidered using natural materials. It is the outcome of relentless creativity by highland artisans.” Applying traditional brocade fabric and drawing technique using beeswax by H’mong women, this innovative idea honors the craftsmanship of women and opens up opportunities for them in terms of product outputs, thereby augmenting their income and helping them enjoy a stable life.

La Pham shared about her collection, “Mountain Dreams is not just fashion. It is a story about resilience, beauty, and the connection between nature and culture. The collection is a tribute to the spirits of Vietnamese highlands and awesome women who live and work there. We also hope that via this collection, we will inspire Vietnamese designers and youngsters to prioritize applying and using nature-based fabric which carries the cultural and traditional beauty as well as the pride of Vietnamese people when using products of Vietnamese origin.”
Rachel Isenschmid, founder of Empower Women Asia, shared about this collaboration attempt, “Our presence with La Pham at London Fashion Week is a deep tribute to the resilience and cultural beauties of Vietnamese highland women. The event also represents our effort and commitment to supporting and empowering women who are working day and night by the loom by means of bringing the heritage and their products to the international runway”.
Designer Ngoc Anh and Empower Women Asia’s founder smiled brightly at the event
The show guests included fashion fans across the world, and they expressed their admiration for the collection and its source of inspiration. After the event, many famous newspapers and magazines in and outside Vietnam like VnExpress, Style Magazine, Vietnam Insider, VietNamNet, National Network, World Fashion Media New, Desiblitz, etc. also posted complimentary articles.
The presence of La Pham and Empower Women Asia on a famous international runway not only signals a milestone in the journey of collaboration with an aim to bring the fashion and culture of Vietnamese ethnic minority women to the world but also acts as a lighthouse of hope and inspiration for minor communities across the world.
With the mission of supporting ethnic minority women and female children in traditional weaving villages of Vietnam, Empower Women Asia, initiated by Keep It Beautiful Vietnam, keeps accompanying and organizing events to promote the beauty and raise the standard of living for these women in conjunction with popularizing sustainable fashion.
Having collaborated with EWA since 2019, La Pham fashion brand has continuously developed environmentally-friendly ideas. They have designed decorations made from brocade and collaborated to introduce the collection inspired by Vietnamese folk materials to the international stage, thereby raising the position of the Vietnamese fashion industry in the world rankings. Empower Women Asia and La Pham promise to join hands to bring more and more meaningful products and events.
